FAQs

What is "Devilmaycare Photography?"

It's not only a business name, it's also philosophy. The best definitions of "devilmaycare" I've found are: "marked by a carefree nonconformity" and "jovial and rakish in manner."

As a self-employed freelancer, I have the luxury of being daring, creative and unconventional, and I put that to work for my clients.

Do you do Time-For-CD work?

My portfolio is filled to bursting, and I have long-time working relationships with several excellent models, so I'm not actively seeking TFCD models at the moment. If you'd like to send me a recent photo and contact info, I'll keep you in mind for any projects for which you might be suitable.

Can I bring a friend or chaperone to my shoot?

Absolutely! However, if I may make a suggestion, your best bet is a close female friend. Boyfriends and husbands aren't usually ideal chaperones. No matter how cool a guy might be, when they watch another guy photograph their girlfriend, certain evolutionary territorial instincts bubble to the surface and it can lead to tension. Besides, isn't it more fun to surprise him?

I'm not eighteen yet. Will you photograph me?

Not even at gunpoint.

Do you do weddings?

Sorry, I don't do weddings.

Will you make an exception for my wedding?

Nope. Sorry. Allow me to recommend two excellent Edmonton-based wedding photographers - www.redwagonphoto.com and www.christinalouise.ca

Do you have any other restrictions on what you shoot?

I won't shoot in graveyards, I think that's a little discourteous to the families of the interred. Also (and I don't bend on this one) I never shoot anyone smoking. I have a deep-seated aversion toward smoking, and although I'm not judgmental about someone's personal habits, I draw the line where my art is concerned. Some people think it's sexy, but I just don't get it.

You seem like a bit of an eccentric - how's that working out for you?

Well, I'm a lovable eccentric so... so far, so good.
